NERC awards electricity generation license to Ajaokuta power plant, 3 others

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has awarded four electricity generation licenses with combined capacity for 774MW.

Two of the four awarded electricity generations licenses are solar powered plants while the other two are thermal. The thermal plants are Turbine Drive Ltd an on-grid power plant with capacity for 500mw located at Ajaokuta, Kogi state and Porton Energy with capacity for 100MW at Ogorode Sapele, Delta state.

The other two Solar Power firms are Nigeria Solar Capital Ltd with 100Mw located at Ganjuwa, Bauchi State while Pan Africa Solar located at Kankin Kastina State with 24MW.

The NERC has threatened to revoke non-performing electricity generation licensees.
