BVN as in the compulsory Bank Verification Number mandated to all bank account owners to register for.
To the best of my knowledge, it's since
last December that i heard about it and eventually did mine on one of my visits to my bank a months ago and even had my N6000 picked from my pocket by some smart fellow.
Many Nigerians turned deaf ears to calls to get their BVN done. As usual of typical Nigerian, the fire brigade approach was adopted.
Yesterday being the last day, all trooped to the bank like ECOMOG soldiers on a peace keeping mission to Liberia in the 90s.
I was at the bank yesterday and spent not less than 4hours just to make a deposit.
Why?
My fellow Nigerians have besiege the banking hall to get their BVN done on the very last day of the exercise and commotion was the result.
Do we need to always be like that?
I am not sure if some of my readers actually fell into this mess but come to think of it, we need not wait till the final date of anything before we get on board and now that the deadline has been extended, I hope people don't relax and start to rush for it in the last days again.
What's the experience like in your bank?
