Kogi State APC governorship aspirant, Prince Abubakar Audu, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of perpetrating ethnic politics in the state during its 13 years in power in order to cover its massive failure.
His media assistant, Suleiman Abdulmalik, while briefing newsmen in Abuja on Saturday, alleged that PDP's mode of campaign was diversionary instead of facing real issues.
He said, "it was the failure of PDP to improve on the laudable achievements of the former governor of the state, Prince Abubakar Audu, that was responsible for the ongoing ethnic agitation in the state.
"This is part of PDP's desperation to remain in power against the wish of the people," he said.
Abdulmalik, who said he was responding to PDP's allegations of financial recklessness against his principal, said during Audu's first coming as governor, the entire state was giving equal sense of belonging in terms of developmental projects.
"Audu's administration got less than N20 billion in four years, yet he was able to do much for the state with the meagre resources. And since he left office, things have gone for the worst in the state.
"They said Audu stole N11 billion! Where is the money to steal? Someone who got less than N20 billion and lifted a shanty town (Lokoja) to a model city, built university, constructed roads across the state, built houses for civil servants, built the government house, built a 5 star hotel and many more. So, tell me, where is the N11 billion to steal?" he asked.
