The suspect who gave his name as Precious and claimed to hail from Ihiala Local Government Area in Anambra State, disguised to have been suffering from heart related ailment and told 'his mother in the Lord', a family friend, an aged retired school Teacher that his situation has worsen with a fake doctor's report to back his claim of dying soon if help was not rendered to him.
The suspect, we learnt from the Police investigation, continued to pester the aged woman who, out of sympathy to save a life transferred a whooping sum of N3, 000, 000.00 to the suspect's bank account for the fake heart surgery in an undisclosed hospital.
Investigation has it that the cat was let out of the bag when the doctor who signed the fake medical report allegedly called the philanthropist on phone and confessed.
The confession of the doctor, abdoolwahab.com source learnt led to the arrest of the undergraduate who could not deny the crime, but blamed action to the work of the devil.
Speaking with newsmen at the State Police Headquarters, Port Harcourt, the Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, said detectives from the command have so far recovered the sum of N812, 000.00 (Eight Hundred and Twelve Thousand Naira) being part of the loot from the suspect.
Speaking with abdoolwahab.com source during the parade, the suspect disclosed that the victim is a member of his church who has displayed so much love and care to him and his family.
Regretting his action, Precious said he made his contact to the victim for help when he was still sick but the money came when he has already regained his health and pleaded for forgiveness.
Meanwhile, the suspect has been charged to a Port Harcourt Magistrate Court for fraud.
